About Khylah Settle

KylahSettlesKhylah Settle grew up in the suburbs of Washington,D.C., where she attended Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD. While attending Bowie State University, Khylah worked as an intern on the Russ Parr Morning Show. It was here where she honed her writing skills by contributing to daily segments such as “Why You Should Vote 2000,” as well as various sketches and segments.

Throughout her late teens and early 20’s, Khylah modeled for various designers and companies, ranging from the cover of a compilation CD to the Source magazine, the Golden Scissors awards, and many locally produced run-way shows throughout the DC area. She has worked with such designers as Tony Shelman and Chaka Wilson of ENYCE.

After graduating from Bowie State University with a B.S. in Communications, Khylah began her career in the newspaper industry as an advertising account executive at the Journal Newspaper, a local publishing company in the Washington, D.C metro area. It was her intention to get her foot in the door on the advertising side and then move to the editorial side once a position became available. However, this position would lead to other advertising positions at the Washington Examiner, the Washington Post, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. It would appear that Khylah’s flare for persuasion made her a natural at advertising sales, but her love for writing, fashion, and entertainment led her to her role at JBM Magazine.

Khylah resides in suburbs of Washington, DC with her husband Steve and three children, Steve III, Spencer Ashley, and Sloane.
